The 2009 Megavalanche race in the Sacred Valley of Cusco unfortunately was the last edition of this amazing race in Peru. The good thing is that in these 5 years we had this race in Peru, the number of downhill racers in Cusco increased a lot and now everybody is riding downhill bikes!
Since 3 or 4 years ago, some of the best organizers in Cusco are making similar type of races with good results. Every race helds around 200 racers that start at the same time!

For the 2009 edition we received a call from Chris Van Dine that was racing in Chile with some frinds. He wanted to come to Peru to race the Megavalanche and we give him all the support for the race.
He imediately flew to Peru and just had a couple of days to recognize the track. This amazing rider from the United States is the first one to race a Panamerican Championship and he won. We think that now more US riders will race the Panamerican Championship and give more level to this tough race.

The 2009 edition was tough, lot of rain and the terrain was muddy like never! On the Qualys a local friend of us made the best time and beat Chris by 4 minutes. Unfortunately he wasted all his energy on the qualys and on the race he didn't made a good time. By the other hand, Chris was more confident with his riding and he won the race with a 4" bike!
