Last March 30th. 2008 we had on the Sacred Valley of the Inca's the fourth edition of the "Megavalanche Peru". It was one of the most challenging races due to the constant rain and hail that we had on the top of the trail at an altitude of 4,400 masl (14,435 ft.).
Philip Polk from Slovakia won the race. He came with a Tomac bike, more XC than DH! Second place was Mike Jones from Maverick bikes and third place was Kyle Salisbury from Fanatik Bike Shop and who came on our "Inkas Adventures - Megavalanche Tour".

For more information, you can contact directly with the official webpage at www.megavalancheperu.com or join our 11 days tour in which we will ride epic trails in Lima and Cusco. You will also have a proper acclimatization for the altitude and reach Cusco feeling like a local!
The Megavalanche is a tough race, maybe you have seen some pictures of the race in Alp de Huez in France where the riders are having troubles with the snow. The edition in Peru is aso tough. It's the rainy season and the trail is wet and muddy.

We have uploaded a video of the 2006 edition where you can see clearly the type of terrain you will have on this edition: see video.
The tour starts in Lima riding 3 of the longest downhill trails on earth with more than 3,000 meters of vertical descent per ride. This will help us to get used to the altitude because we ride on the Andes with high altitudes and on the afternoon we return to Lima at sealevel to recoverour bodies.
In Cusco we will ride awesome Inca trails that were used by the Incas hundreds of years ago. Our best trail is Lares (a long one) and Chinchero (a short one). We will ride also other Inca trails like the one in Racchi that we have reacently start using on our tours.
We are staying at the same hotel where the top riders and the organization team are located. We will have a lot of time to share with them our experiences and riding tips.
Reacently we have been in Cusco and we raced the Maras Estampida 2008 where we got the second place. Wayo who obtained the second place is going to be your guide on this tour and he will push your limits to prepare you for the race.
After the race we are meeting in Cusco to have a party and enjoy the nightlife that never ends!
See you in Cusco!
