Cusco & Sacred Valley
...
Ride through the heart of the Andes. Follow ancient trails. Discover the Sacred Valley from the saddle. Our Cusco mountain bike tours take you through the Sacred Valley and some of the most spectacular riding terrain in the Peruvian Andes.
This is where our passion for mountain biking, exploration, and Peru's ancient trails comes together. For years, we have been riding, exploring, and developing routes throughout the mountains and valleys surrounding Cusco, constantly searching for new trails, new connections, and new ways to experience this extraordinary region by bike.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas, also known as the Urubamba Valley, stretches between the mountains north of Cusco and is surrounded by some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Peruvian Andes.
For mountain bikers, this region offers an incredible combination of high mountains, glaciers, deep valleys, ancient trails, archaeological sites, traditional communities, and an enormous variety of terrain.
The mountains around Cusco are crossed by an extensive network of ancient paths.
Many of the trails we ride follow routes that have been used for centuries, connecting communities, agricultural areas, valleys, and mountain passes. Some date back to pre-Inca civilizations, while others were developed and expanded during the Inca period.
These are not modern bike trails.
They are raw, natural, and constantly changing, shaped by centuries of use, erosion, weather, water, and the people who continue to use them today.
There are no perfectly shaped berms or manicured surfaces waiting for you.
Instead, you may encounter rocks, roots, steps, loose terrain, narrow sections, erosion, water crossings, steep switchbacks, natural drops, and countless possible lines.
You have to read the terrain, react quickly, and choose your own way through the mountain.
And that is exactly what makes riding here so exciting.
The geography around Cusco and the Sacred Valley creates an incredible variety of riding.
You can start high in the Andes surrounded by snow-capped peaks and glaciers, cross remote mountain passes, and descend thousands of meters through changing landscapes.
As you lose elevation, the environment transforms.
High-altitude grasslands give way to rocky mountains, agricultural terraces, deep valleys, forests, and warmer environments. The terrain, vegetation, temperature, and scenery can change dramatically during a single ride.
This diversity allows us to create everything from Cross Country and Explorer rides to challenging All Mountain, Enduro, and Downhill adventures.
Cusco and the Sacred Valley are especially important to us because this is where we have spent years riding and exploring.
We know these mountains from the saddle.
Over the years, we have explored countless trails and connections throughout the region. This experience allows our Cusco mountain bike tours to go far beyond the standard tourist routes.
Some rides follow well-known ancient paths. Others combine different sections to create completely new connections through the mountains. And we are still exploring.
Every time we ride, there is another valley to investigate, another trail to connect, or another line to discover.
This is one of the things that makes riding with Inkas Adventures different. We are not simply taking you along a route—we are sharing a region that we have spent years exploring ourselves.
Mountain biking in Cusco is also a journey through living Andean culture.
The mountains surrounding the Sacred Valley are home to communities that continue many traditional ways of life. Agriculture remains an essential part of everyday life, and ancient knowledge, traditions, languages, clothing, and customs continue to shape the region.
While riding, you may pass through agricultural fields, small villages, traditional farms, and remote communities where life remains closely connected to the land.
You may see farmers working their fields, traditional livestock, ancient agricultural terraces, and local families traveling along the same paths that have connected these communities for generations.
We ride through these places as guests, with respect for the people, their traditions, and their land.
Cusco and the Sacred Valley are famous around the world for places such as Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, Pisac, and the incredible archaeological heritage of the Inca civilization.
But there is another way to experience this region.
Instead of simply visiting the famous sites, you can ride through the mountains that surround them.
You can climb through remote landscapes, follow ancient paths, stop at archaeological sites, cross traditional communities, and descend into the valleys—all while experiencing the Andes from the saddle.
This is Peru beyond the postcard.
Whether you are an experienced rider looking for technical Enduro and Downhill terrain, an XC rider who wants long mountain adventures, or a cyclist looking for a more relaxed exploration of the Sacred Valley, Cusco offers an extraordinary range of possibilities.
We can adapt each experience according to your riding level, fitness, interests, available time, and preferred discipline.
And because this is our home territory, we can also combine riding with the other experiences that make Cusco special—archaeology, history, local culture, traditional food, and the incredible landscapes of the Andes.
For us, Cusco and the Sacred Valley are more than a destination.
They are where our story began.
This is where we have spent years riding, racing, exploring, discovering trails, and sharing our passion for mountain biking with riders from around the world.
If you want to experience Peru by bike, our Cusco mountain bike tours are the perfect place to start.
